ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – Azusa Pacific sent a small group of athletes to the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, where newcomer
Olivia Alexandre led the day with a new school record in the 800m.
Finishing first in a field of ten Division-I runners, Alexandre's time of 2:06.24 broke the previous school record set by
Marian Ledesma at the Bryan Clay Classic in 2022. Her prior time of 2:07.84, run in her first indoor race of the season, ranked fourth nationally and third on Azusa Pacific's all-time list. She now moves up to third overall on the provisional list.
Two-time All-American
Trinity Miller also had a breakout performance, setting a career-best time of 24.09 in the 200m. This time moved her to seventh nationally, improving on her previous mark of 24.65, which had placed her 40th on the provisional list. Miller's performance also ranks among the top 10 in Azusa Pacific's record books.
After opening her indoor season nearly two months ago,
Esther Conde-Turpin earned two provisional marks on Friday. In the high jump, she tied her season-best mark of 1.78m (5'10"), which is currently tied for the top mark in the nation this season. Later, in the long jump, Conde-Turpin finished with a mark of 5.76m (18'10¾"), moving into 29th place on the national list.
