AZUSA, Calif. — Azusa Pacific welcomes the addition of Bryan Fisher as the program's new Assistant Coach / Athletic Development. Fisher arrives with a decade of collegiate basketball coaching and operations experience across the NCAA Division I and II levels, highlighted by successful stints at Cal Lutheran, Western Oregon, and Northern Arizona.
Fisher most recently served as the Associate Head Coach at Cal Lutheran University, where he helped guide the Kingsmen to the 2025 SCIAC Regular Season Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. As the program's offensive coordinator, Fisher's system boosted Cal Lutheran's scoring average by nearly eight points per game while improving the team's three-point percentage. His recruiting and player development efforts produced multiple award-winners, including SCIAC Player of the Year and First Team All-American Devon Lewis.
Prior to Cal Lutheran, Fisher spent five years at Western Oregon University, serving first as an assistant coach and later as associate head coach. During that time, the Wolves featured eight All-GNAC selections, an All-Region honoree, and an All-American, while maintaining one of the top offensive efficiency ratings in the NCAA. He also played a key role in academic support, helping the program raise its cumulative GPA to above 3.0.
Fisher's Division I background includes three seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations at Northern Arizona University, where he oversaw travel, scouting, recruiting, and summer camp operations. He began his career at San Diego State University as a student manager, working under Hall of Fame head coach Steve Fisher during the Aztecs' rise to national prominence.
"Bryan is an outstanding addition to our staff," said Head Coach BJ Porter. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, but more importantly, he's a builder of people and programs. His energy, work ethic, and ability to connect with student-athletes will elevate our culture both on and off the court."
In his role with the Cougars, Fisher will focus on player development, recruiting, and alumni relations, as well as contributing to fundraising and athletic development initiatives for APU Athletics.
A native of California, Fisher holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from San Diego State (2016) and a Master's in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona (2018).
