RENO, Nev. — Rounding out the first indoor track and field meet of 2025,
Alayna Verner earned a provisional mark at the Nevada Invitational and Multis, while several Cougars earned career-best marks and top-ten finishes.
Verner kicked things off with a solid 7.64 in the 60m dash prelims before improving to 7.63 in the final, securing second place and hitting the provisional standard. The nine-time All-American has already achieved two provisional marks this season in the 200m and 400m, both set at the Silver State Invitational & Multis.
Later in the day,
Maxime Wassmer blazed through the 400m dash with a 47.06 finish, earning second place overall. His time, which now ranks sixth in school history, surpasses his previous provisional mark of 47.50 and places him fourth in the national rankings.
Hannah Richardson continued her strong season in the shot put, finishing first overall with a best throw of 15.24m (50'). Richardson remains second in the national rankings after a 15.78m (51' 9.25") throw at the Silver State Invitational & Multis in December.
Building on a stellar performance the day before, Erick Leal and
Adam King both earned top-10 finishes in the 600m. Freshman Leal finished sixth overall with a time of 1:22.40, while King crossed the line in 1:23.70.
Brett Olson also showed progress in the shot put, earning seventh overall with a career-best throw of 15.37m (50' 5¼").
In the sprints,
Trinity Miller posted a career-best time of 7.69 in a competitive 60m prelim that included three professional athletes. Her time was just 0.06 seconds shy of a provisional mark.
