IRVINE, Calif. – Azusa Pacific ran it's win streak to 13 consecutive sets and seven matches in a row with a sweep at Concordia, defeating the Golden Eagles 25-13, 25-18, 25-23 Saturday evening in Irvine.
Delaney Tate had another double-double to lead the team, totalling 15 kills and 16 digs.
How it Happened: The Cougars pounced on the lead from the outset, winning the first three points and opening the game on a 12-3 run. The front line was particularly solid, collecting six blocks in the first set as the Cougars pulled away, claiming the frame by a 25-13 margin.
The second set started back-and-forth, with Concordia using a 6-2 run to take a brief 10-7 lead, but the Cougars offense roared to life once again, winning the next nine points through four kills, three aces, and two blocks. The resulting 16-10 lead would reach as much as eight points before settling in at a 25-18 margin to take a 2-0 lead on the day.
In the third set, Azusa Pacific looked to slam the door early, racing out to a 16-8 lead. The Golden Eagles did their best to mount a comeback, including a 6-0 run that got them back within a single point at 23-22. It wouldn't be enough. as the Cougars were able to finish off the sweep with
Amanda Albertini providing the final kill on match point to keep Azusa Pacific perfect in conference play.
By the Numbers: Azusa Pacific hit .290 as a team for the match and limited their mistakes, committing just eight errors on the day. The defense held Concordia to just a .132 hitting percentage in the process, forcing nine blocks in all.

Mia Medrano led the back row with 19 digs. The Cougars served up seven aces in the contest, with
Brooklyn Kostoff accounting for three of them. This is the third straight win for Azusa Pacific in the series, and the Cougars hold the all-time advantage over Concordia 42-31. This is the first time Azusa Pacific has opened conference play with five straight wins since 2019. That squad won the PacWest regular season title and advanced all the way to the West Region final.
