GENEVA, OH. - Azusa Pacific got underway at the DII Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday in record fashion. Montana White finished eighth in the 1000 Free to earn All-American status and a school record while Amanda Anderson earned another school record for the Cougars in the 200 IM.
"We have had a great start to the meet!" said head coach Tim Kyle. "Two swims, two new school records and one All-American recognition! I am excited for tomorrow."
To start the prelims off, Anderson earned 18th with a personal best time of 2:03.52 in the 200 IM. She earned splits of 27.03, 31.40, 35.41 and had a final split of 29.68 in the race.Â
In the 1000 Free, White swam a time of 10:03.76 to earn an eighth place finish, which placed her on the podium as she earned All-American honors. White was consistent throughout the entire race as all of her splits were under 31 seconds. She started off the race with her best split (27.22) and ended with a 29.01 split.Â
Azusa Pacific looks to continue their strong start at nationals tomorrow when Aleena Herrera and Anderson compete in the 400 IM while White swims in the 200 Free at 7:00 a.m. (PT) / 10:00 a.m. (ET).Â
