AZUSA, Calif – Azusa Pacific won its fifth straight match of the season with a 7-0 win over Colorado Mesa at home on Thursday. The Cougars are now 6-1 this year. Additionally, Azusa Pacific has won all nine matches they have faced against Colorado Mesa, dating back to 2012.
It was a quick victory for the Cougars as both doubles pairs won their respective matches in one set then each singles match was also won in straight sets.
Vini Bautista and Julia Jordan kicked off the day with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles to remain undefeated as a pair this season. Then, Madison Kane and Miruna Tudor won 6-4 at No. 1 to secure the doubles point for the Cougars and move to 5-1 as a duo.
Then in Singles, Bautista was first to secure another point for the Cougars with a 6-1,6-2 win at No. 3 singles. It was her fifth straight singles win of the season.
Kane was next to win her match at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Colorado Mesa's Issy Coman. To clinch the match, Jordan came away with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
At No. 4 singles, Tudor won her match 6-2, 6-2 while Katherine Nguyen finished her match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Hannah Mulbarger clinched her first win of the season 6-2, and won the second set 7-6 via a 7-4 tiebreak at No. 6 singles to end the match.
