MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - Azusa Pacific swimming & diving earned a third place finish after four days of competition in the lanes and on the boards at the PCSC Championships. The Cougars compiled 1115.5 points and Montana White scored the most points of any swimmer at the meet with 96, while Amanda Anderson had the second most points with 88.
"We had many memorable swims and our work on the boards was fantastic." said head coach Tim Kyle. "I am thankful for every one of our athletes and their dedication to achieve their personal best. Looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish at nationals!"
To kick off the final day of competition, Marci Yanagawa earned a time of 2:06.80 in the 200 Back, collecting 24 points for the Cougars. Elaine Wong also earned four points and Davina Sharma collected two points for Azusa Pacific with times of 2:10.38 and 2:13.28.Â
In the 100 Free, Hannah Swailes had a finishing time of 53.10 to tab 22 more points for the Cougars. Madeline Schultz and Ellie Sivesind combined for 16 more points for the Cougars with times of 52.33 and 52.99.Â
Anderson earned a second place finish in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:19.08, earning 28 points, another NCAA "B" Cut. Delanie Gearing also came in fourth place with a time of 2:22.59, collecting 26.5 points.Â
In the 200 Fly, Marcelina Halawczak earned a time of 2:08.28 to collect 23 points for the Cougars, while Victoria Alfaro and Alexandra Szolnoki combined for 29 more points.
The Cougars wrapped up the day with a second place finish in the 400 Free Relay when the relay team of Swailes, Sivesind, Schultz and White combined for a time of 3:26.88.Â
Azusa Pacific finished in third place at the 2024 PCSC Championships, while collecting five first place finishes and also compiled four NCAA "B" Standard Times, three of those coming from Anderson.Â
