MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - Azusa Pacific remains in second place with 822Â points after day three of competition at the PCSC Championships. Another competitive day in the lanes was highlighted by a school record in the 400 IM by Aleena Herrera and two NCAA "B" Cuts.Â
"We had another strong day of swimming!" said head coach Tim Kyle. "So many personal best times and season best times. We will see what we can accomplish tomorrow."
The Cougars kicked off finals in the 100 Fly when Marcelina Halawczak collected 14 points with a time of 57.88.Â
Herrera and Amanda Anderson then finished first and second in the 400 IM, with Herrera breaking a school record, earning an NCAA "B" Cut and personal best time of 4:23.67. Anderson followed with another NCAA "B" Cut and a personal best of her own with a time of 4:24.66. Both Herrera and Anderson combined for 60 points. Victoria Alfaro also collected three points with a time of 4:53.02.Â
In the 200 Free, Montana White earned her third first place finish of the meet with a time of 1:48.90, collecting 32 points. Kya Guikema earned 11 points with a finishing time of 1:55.34, followed by Ellie Sivesind who earned a personal best of 1:55.36, collecting nine points. Madeline Schultz followed just .57 seconds behind with a time of 1:55.93, earning seven points for Azusa Pacific.
In the 100 Breast, Delanie Gearing earned 25 points for the Cougars with a finishing time of 1:06.64. In the prelims of this event, she earned a personal best with a time of 1:05.99. Paige Colligan also collected 15 points with a time of 1:09.47.Â
Marci Yanagawa followed up with a time of 57.61, collecting 25 more points for the Cougars in the 100 Back. Elaine Wong also earned four points with a time of 1:00.62 after earning a lifetime best of 59.97 in the event prelims.Â
Azusa Pacific closed out the day in the 400 Medley Relay, as the team of Yanagawa, Anderson, Halawczak and Swailes had a finishing time of 3:52.99, taking third place and earning 54 points.Â
The Cougars ended day three of competition in second place with 822 points, trailing Biola which has 892.Â
