MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - Azusa Pacific swimming & diving had another strong day in the lanes and on the boards on the second day of the PCSC Championships. Montana White and Amanda Anderson earned two first place finishes, while Anderson earned an NCAA "B" Standard Time in the 200 IM.Â
"We have had a strong start to the meet." said head coach Tim Kyle. "We have raced and dove well to this point. The team is on track to have another good showing at the PCSC Conference Chamionships."
To start the day, Allison Ferrer finished fourth place in the one-meter dive finals, scoring 26 points for Azusa Pacific with a score of 215.70. Abby Keane scored 25 with a score of 197.65 and Madison Schneider secured 23 points with a score of 144.95.Â
In the lanes for finals on day two, the Cougars got things going with a second place finish in the 200 Free Relay. The relay team of Hannah Swailes, Ellie Sivesind, Madeline Schultz and White finished with a time of 1:35.73 to earn 56 points.Â
In the 500 Free, White followed with a first place finish, touching the wall at 4:54.84 to gain 32 points, while Kya Guikema earned 23 points with a finishing time of 5:06.05.
After finishing second in the prelims, Anderson earned a first place finish and lifetime best in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.42. The time also earned her an NCAA "B" Standard Time and she collected 32 more points for Azusa Pacific. Delanie Gearing earned 14 more points for the Cougars in this event with a time of 2:10.38 and Marci Yanagawa secured 12 points, touching the wall at 2:11.03.Â
In the 50 Free, Schultz secured 22 points for Azusa Pacific with a time of 24.19, followed by Swailes who had a finishing time of 24.71, scoring four points for the Cougars.
After two days of competition at the PCSC Championships, the Cougars rank second with 563 points, trailing Biola who has 569.Â
