AZUSA, Calif. – It was a quick match day for the Cougars, as they defeated Cal State Los Angeles 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, Azusa Pacific moves to a 3-1 season record.
Madison Kane and Miruna Tudor sealed the first win for the Cougars with a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles to remain undefeated this season.
Azusa Pacific kept the momentum going as Vini Bautista and Julia Jordan took their fourth straight win as a duo with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. Shannele Lopez and Katherine Nguyen finished out doubles with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
With the doubles point secured, the Cougars went on to win all six matches in straight-sets. First, Lopez secured a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6, followed by Nguyen who also put up a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
To secure the overall win for Azusa Pacific, Julia Jordan won her match 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. The Cougars finished the day winning the remaining three matchups as Kane took her match 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, then 6-3, 6-4 for Bautista at No. 3 singles, and a 6-4, 6-1 win for Tudor at No. 4.Â
Both Kane and Nguyen have yet to drop a set this season in singles.
