MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - Azusa Pacific swimming & diving scored 219 points on the first day of competition at the PCSC Championships, leading all teams after the conclusion of day one. The 200 Medley Relay school record was broken and the Cougars secured five podium finishes, highlighted by Montana White's first place finish and lifetime best time in the 1000 Free.
The 200 Medley Relay team of Marci Yanagawa, Amanda Anderson, White and Madeline Schultz finished with a time of 1:44.23, which broke the Azusa Pacific school record by .03 seconds that was previously set last year by the same relay team.
In the 1000 Free, White earned a lifetime best time of 10:09.97 to secure a first place finish and 32 points for the Cougars. Alexandra Szolnoki joined White on the podium with a third place finish and personal best time of 10:25.16, securing 27 points for Azusa Pacific. Kya Guikema also earned personal best times of 10:26.41 to secure 26 points followed by Aleena Herrera who touched the wall at 10:27.23 to secure 25 points. Riley Lawler gained one more point for the Cougars with a finishing time of 10:58.47, which is also a personal best for her.
In the 800 Free Relay, Herrera, Guikema, Schultz and White earned a third place time of 7:34.40 to secure 54 points for Azusa Pacific.
On the boards for the Cougars, Abby Keane placed on the podium, taking third place in the three-meter dive.
