Aliso Viejo, Calif. - Azusa Pacific swimming made a strong showing at the Wyatt Balman Invitational, to secure a second-place finish with multiple first-place finishes in individual and relay events. The Cougars collected 562 points, narrowly trailing Concordia, which finished with 584 points.
How It Happened: Azusa Pacific kicked off the meet with a victory in the women's 200-yard medley relay.

Sydnee Wilson,
Montana White, and alongside senior Maddy Schultz, clocked in at 1:50.48 to take first place. Schultz had the quickest split, swimming 24.58 seconds.
Eight-time All-American White continued to dominate the distance events, as she secured a win in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:27.77) and placed second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.65).
Marci Yanagawa also swam fast, finishing third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.02.
The Cougars also showed out in the 100-yard backstroke, sweeping the top 5 spots, with Maemura taking first place in 58.62, followed closely by
Gillian Sato, who took second in 59.98, and
Angelica Benitez who secured a third-place finish (1:03.69).
In the sprints, Wilson captured two wins, taking first in the 50-yard freestyle with a 24.13 and later winning the 100-yard freestyle in 53.26. Wilson, along with
Ellie Sivesind, scored additional points for the Cougars in the freestyle sprints, to help the Cougars to a top-3 finish.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Maemura finished second with a time of 59.11, with
Angelica Benitez close behind in third at 1:00.68.
