MALIBU, Calif. – A week after the Cougar swimming team opened its 2024-25 season, the diving half of the equation made its debut in the pool, participating in the 1-meter springboard and 3-meter platform events at the Rodionoff Invitational, hosted by Pepperdine University.

Kaylee Hurley was the highest-performing Cougar on the platform in Friday's three-meter competition, putting up a score of 171.05 across six dives, which placed her sixth among the non-D1 athletes competing in the event. Madison Schneider also competed on the platform, compiling a score of 115.40. In Saturday's springboard event, Allison Ferrer was the top finisher for the Cougars', coming in fourth among D2 competitors.

While the Cougars swimmers did not compete on day one, they made their presence felt in a big way on Saturday, where they won seven events, highlighted by two podium sweeps in the 100-yard backstroke and 500-yard freestyle. Mikaela Maemura won both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, while Montana White claimed the 200 and 500 freestyle. These strong showings were enough to net the Cougars 215 points, allowing them to finish in third place among Division 2 teams competing at the meet despite only competing on day two.
