Strong Start to Bryan Clay Invitational

Azusa Pacific track & field opened competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa on Thursday.

AZUSA, Calif. - The Bryan Clay Invitational kicked off today where the Cougars hosted their first meet of the 2023 outdoor season at the Cougar Athletic Stadium. Esther Conde-Turpin and Nicole Warwick highlighted the day, both earning NCAA Division II provisional standard times in the 100 hurdles as they competed in the heptathlon. 

WOMEN

Conde-Turpin also earned a first place finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.40, which currently ranks first in the nation. Warwick turned in a time of 13.96 which ranks 11th in the nation, while Alysa Henry ran a time of 14.49, in which all three earned personal bests in the event. 

Conde-Turpin earned herself another first place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.67m (5'5 ¾") which is tied for the 15th best mark in the country. Henry turned in a mark of 1.61m (5'3 ¼") which is tied for the 46th best mark in the nation currently. 

In other events, Warwick and Henry earned personal bests in the 200 meter as Warwick crossed the line third with a time of 24.75 and Henry earned a time of 25.76. To round out the heptathlon events for the day, Conde-Turpin earned a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 12.97m (42'6 ¾"). 

Conde-Turpin currently leads the heptathlon through four events with 3,464 points, Warwick is in fifth place with 3,258 points and Henry ranks 11th with 3,106 points. The final three events will be completed tomorrow. 

MEN

On the men's side, Lincoln Krog and Aaron Worrell competed in the first five events of the decathlon. Krog earned a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 13.51m (44'4"), earning a fifth place finish. In the high jump, Worrell placed third, jumping to a mark of 1.95m (6'4 ¾"). 

Krog currently ranks fourth in the decathlon through five events with 3,842 points and Worrell ranks seventh with 3,756 points. The final five events will be completed tomorrow.
