SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Azusa Pacific dominated in their dual meet over Westmont today, winning it by a final score of 176-67. Meanwhile, divers Allison Ferrer, Abby Keane and Madison Schneider were taking part in the Occidental Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif. On the boards, Ferrer fully qualified for NCAA DII Nationals, earning a total score of 260.90 in the one-meter dive.
In the lanes, the 200 yard medley relay kicked off the day where two Cougar relay teams took first and second place. Marci Yanagawa, Delanie Gearing, Montana White and Madeline Schultz finished with a time of 1:52.64, while Connor Herrin, Amanda Anderson, Marcelina Halawczak and Ellie Sivesind earned a time of 1:54.19.
In the 100 IM, White, Anderson and Aleena Herrera all earned personal best times. White finished first at 1:00.40, followed by Anderson at 1:00.79, then Herrera finished third with a time of 1:02.41. In the 50 Fly, White took another first place finish with a time of 26.28, Halawczak earned second and a personal best time of 26.75, while Anderson finished third (27.73).
The Cougars posted more strong performances in the lanes in the 50 Back and Breast. Sydney Romero finished first with a time of 28.92 in the 50 Back, while Herrin earned third (29.85) and Sivesind finished fourth (30.03). In the 50 Breast, it was White who picked up her third first place finish on the day with a time of 32.18 (Personal Best). Finishing third was Herrera with a time of 33.56 (Personal Best), followed by Paige Colligan with a fourth place time of 34.57.
In the 50 Free, Anderson, Sivesind and Herrera swept first, second and third (in order), with times of 25.69, 25.83 and 26.01. Then in the 1000 Free, Hannah Swailes earned a first place finish, touching the wall at 11:18.92, followed by Riley Lawler in third (11:32.44). In the 100 Fly, Janelle Ng earned second (1:03.50), followed by Herrin in fourth at 1:03.93.
White picked up her fourth first place finish on the day in the 100 Back with a time of 1:00.84, followed by Romero (1:02.13) and Sivesind (1:02.75), and in the 100 Breast, Anderson finished first (1:07.71), followed by Herrera (1:13.43) and Halawczak (1:14.40), another personal best for her.
In the 100 Free, White earned an impressive fifth first place finish on the day with a time of 53.37, followed by Sivesind (55.40) and Gearing (56.36). To close out the day, the relay team of Sivesind, Anderson, Schultz and White earned a time of 1:42.38 to take first place in the 200 Free Relay, followed by Davina Sharma, Herrera, Kya Guikema and Gearing with a second place finishing time of 1:44.36.
