Kya Guikema was honored as the Pacific Collegiate Swimming & Diving Freshman of the Week after a great dual meet in the lanes against Biola. Guikema raced in the 500 Free, earning first place with a time of 5:13.98 and placed third in the 200 Free with a finishing time of 1:57.80. She also helped the 400 Medley B (54.97) team to a strong finish.Â
"Kya has been an amazing addition to our team," said head coach Tim Kyle, "She is passionate about progressing with her swimming which comes through in her training. I am excited to see what she can accomplish this year!"
Guikema and the Cougars earned a 130-113 win over Biola in their Cornerstone Cup meet. Azusa Pacific is undefeated in three duals meets this season.
