Tennis to Host Regional Matches

Azusa Pacific will host both men's and women's regional matches.

AZUSA, Calif. – Azusa Pacific tennis will host the regional round of the NCAA Division II Tennis Championships, as the Cougars earned the No. 2-seed in the West region on both the men's and women's side. Azusa Pacific has hosted three men's regional matches, with the last being in 2018, while the women have hosted regionals once, which was also in 2018. 

Women's Tennis

After capturing the program's second-consecutive PacWest championship last week, the Cougars are set to appear in their fourth regional in program history. Azusa Pacific will host No. 3-seed Fresno Pacific on Friday, May 6 at 2:30 pm. Friday's match will mark the third time that the two teams have met this season, with the Cougars winning both of the regular season meetings.

In the other West regional match, No. 1 seed Hawai'i Pacific hosts No. 4 Point Loma.

Men's Tennis

The Cougars, who won the PacWest Championship for the second time in program history this season, will be making their seventh-consecutive appearance at Regionals on Tuesday, May 10, when they host rival Biola at 2:30 pm. Azusa Pacific won both regular season matches between the two teams. 

In the other West regional match, No. 1 seed Hawai'i Pacific hosts No. 4 Hawai'i Hilo.

Match Implications

The winners of each of the regional matches will advance to Nationals, which will be held in Altamonte Springs, Florida, on May 17-20. A total of 16 teams from the various regions will compete at Nationals, where the teams will be re-seeded by a national committee.
