CLAREMONT, Calif. - Azusa Pacific sent a handful of athletes to the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, and the Cougars had success both on the track and in the field.

Mechaela Hyacinth and Luisa Fischer each moved into the top-5 five for their respective events nationally, as Hyacinth did it in the 200 and Fischer improved her position in the javelin. Hyacinth ran the 200 for the first time this outdoor season, and she posted a time of 23.69, which is the second-fastest time in the nation this season. Hyacinth was an All-American in the 200 last outdoor season, finishing 3rd at Nationals. Hyacinth is second only to Fresno Pacific's Kyla Richardson, who won the race today.

Fischer jumped from No. 9 to No. 5 on the national list today, after she won the javelin with a lifetime best throw of 46.97m (154' 1"). Fischer's career mark came on her third attempt of the afternoon. 

In the women's high jump, Eliana Saunders matched her career-best clearance of 1.65m (5' 5"), which earned her a second-place finish in the event.

On the men's side of things, Logan Peyton, Daniel Bessolo and Adam Alnazer turned in solid performances. Peyton and Bessolo were event winners, with Peyton placing first in the javelin and Bessolo winning the 400. Peyton, who is No. 11 on the national list with a season-best throw of 62.98m (206' 7"), reached 62.54m (205' 2") this afternoon. 

In the 400, Bessolo won with a season-best time of 48.01 seconds. Bessolo also ran in the 200 for the first time this outdoor season, and he finished 4th at 21.58 seconds.

Alnazer turned in a lifetime-best effort in the 800, where he ran a time of 1:53.46 to place sixth.
