FRESNO, Calif. — Both Azusa Pacific men's and women's basketball teams are set to travel to Fresno, Calif. this week to participate in the Pacific West Conference Championships. Azusa Pacific Women's Basketball
After winning the PacWest regular season title with an overall record of 21-3 and 17-2 in conference, the Cougars women's team is the No. 1 seed and will face the host site team in No. 8 seeded Fresno Pacific (9-14, 6-12). The Cougars defeated the Sunbirds twice early in the PacWest season by scores of 93-68 at home back on December 4th before taking them down again on the road by a score of 72-52 on January 15th. The winner of this matchup is set to meet the victor between No. 4 Concordia (17-9, 14-6) and No. 5 Biola (17-10, 13-7) in the second round of the tournament. Azusa Pacific Men's Basketball
On the men's side, the Cougars earned the No. 2 seed in the PacWest tournament with an overall record of 18-8 and finishing 15-4 in conference play. They will take on the No. 7 seed in Hawai'i Hilo in which they defeated twice this season, first at home by a score of 69-62 on January 22nd before taking them down on the island by a final of 89-51on February 3rd.
The winner of that matchup is set to take on either the No. 3 seeded Biola Eagles (20-7, 14-6) or the No. 6 seeded Concordia Eagles (13-12, 10-9) in round two of the tournament. See the full bracket below for more details.
