Academic & Athletic Efforts Earn Jorgenson and Palmbush Recognition

Annaka Jorgenson and Kyra Palmbush have been announced to the CSC Academic All-District team.

Annaka Jorgenson and Kyra Palmbush were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees for their performance on the court and in the classroom this fall.

The Academic All-District® Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom.

Jorgenson, a kinesiology major, currently holds a cumulative GPA of 3.90. On the court, she was a First Team All-PacWest selection after being a three-time PacWest Player of the Week. Jorgenson finished the campaign ranked second in the conference in kills at 3.63 per set (370 total), and fourth in points, at 3.99 points per set (407 total). Jorgenson, who started and played all 29 matches for the Cougars, reached double figures in kills on 20 occasions, had 13 double-doubles (kills and digs), and matched her career-high in kills with 27 this season against Fresno Pacific.

Palmbush, an interdisciplinary studies major, has a cumulative GPA of 3.96. For the Cougars this season, she was a First Team All-PacWest honoree after she established herself as one of the best middle blockers in the conference. Palmbush led the PacWest in hitting percentage (.377 on 440 attempts) and was seventh in blocks (0.98 blocks per set, 10 solo blocks, and 79 block assists). Over the 27 matches she played this season, Palmbush tallied 190 kills, registering 10 or more on seven occasions. At the net, Palmbush had four or more blocks in 10 matches, including a season-high seven in the Cougars' final game at Point Loma this past Saturday.

Jorgenson and Palmbush will now be eligible for Academic All-American consideration, which will be voted on by members of the CSC and announced in late December. The CSC was formerly known as CoSIDA.
