LA MIRADA, Calif. – This week, Azusa Pacific and Biola are competing in the pool for the Cornerstone Cup, and while the swimming action is set for this upcoming Saturday morning in Azusa, the two schools competed in diving on Wednesday afternoon down at Biola.Â
The teams competed in the one-meter and three-meter, and it was Olivia Liddle of Azusa Pacific that won both events in her first meet as a Cougar. In the one-meter, the true-freshman scored a total of 251.48 points to place first, and she followed up with a three-meter score of 262.80 to secure the title sweep on the day.Â
Allison Harrington and Allison Ferrer also competed for the Cougars on Wednesday afternoon. Ferrer finished third in the one-meter (227.10) and fifth in the three-meter (176.03), while Harrington placed fifth in the one-meter (202.88) and fourth in the three-meter (194.03).
Wednesday's action marked the first official competition for the Cougar divers this season.
"I was very pleased with the performance today," said Azusa Pacific diving coach Jim Luci, "All three divers used the competition to apply the skills we have been working on and found success both personally and on the scoreboard. This was a strong showing for our first meet, and it bodes well for the success we are working towards for the rest of the season."
Up Next: The Cougars and Eagles will compete in the lanes this Saturday, Nov. 5, at Slauson pool. Competition is set to start at 10:00 am, however, four Azusa Pacific swimmers will be honored for Senior Day beforehand, as Kyla Clopein, Hannah Frey, Tessie Scavone and Riley Smith will each be swimming their final home meet of their careers.
