Swim and Dive Places First Overall at Wyatt Balman Invitational

Azusa Pacific swimming and diving competed at the Wyatt Balman Invitational on Saturday, taking home first place overall in the pool and on the diving boards.

ALISO VIEJO, CALIF - On Saturday, Azusa Pacific swimming and diving competed at the Wyatt Balman Invitational, collecting 660 points, earning three first place finishes, with two coming from senior Riley Smith in the 50 and 100 Free. Diving also put up a great showing in the one-meter and three-meter, with Olivia Liddle taking home first place in both events.

The diving portion of the meet kicked off the day for the Cougars, with Liddle scoring 262.45 points in the one-meter and 264.45 in the three-meter, to earn her fourth consecutive first place finish as a Cougar on the boards.

Allison Ferrer and Allison Harrington competed in the diving portion for Azusa Pacific, with Ferrer taking home second place in the one-meter with a score of 234.20 and also claiming third in the three-meter with a score of 216.75. Harrington finished with an overall score of 203.10 in the one-meter and 198.65 in the three-meter.

The swimming portion was highlighted by a first place finish from Smith in the 50 Free, coming in at a time of 25.51 and the 100 Free, finishing with a time of 55.38. Marcelina Halawczak also claimed another first place finish for the Cougars in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:16.12.

Amongst other events, Aleena Herrera saw a second place finish in the 200 Free, finishing with a time of 1:58.59. She also had a third place finish in the 100 Free, coming in at 55.97, less than a second behind teammate Hannah Swailes who finished second (55.86) and Smith who finished first.

Amanda Anderson also had a good day in the pool, finishing second in the 100 Breaststroke (1.10:12) and finished third in the 200 Free with a time of 2:02.43.

Tessie Scavone finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.38 and also claimed third in the 100 Breaststroke (1:11.64) behind teammate Anderson.

In the relays, Azusa Pacific claimed second place in the 200 Free Relay by way of Delanie Gearing, Anderson, Scavone and Swailes who put up a time of 1:44.78. In the 200 Medley Relay, Connor Herrin, Madison Schneider, Marci Yanagawa and Smith finished third with a time of 1:55.52.
