AZUSA, Calif. – Azusa Pacific fell in five sets to Biola (20-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-21, 15-11) Tuesday evening inside the Felix Event Center.
How It Happened: The Cougars never trailed at any point in the first two sets, riding the strength of an offense that hit .294 in the first set, led by five kills from Kaitlin Craig. In the second, the Cougars put up five blocks and took advantage of 12 Biola errors to capture another set, going up 2-0 on Biola for the second time this season.
But just as had happened in La Mirada last month, the Eagles rallied. First came a 7-1 run to close a tightly-contested third set that had featured 14 ties and 6 lead changes. After that was a momentum-turning 11-3 run to finish the fourth set after the Cougars had assumed an 18-14 lead. It was Biola who never trailed in the final set, jumping out to an early 7-3 advantage and then winning the final three points to complete the comeback.
By the Numbers: Annaka Jorgenson led the way offensively with 15 kills, while adding 12 digs. She was joined in double figures in the kill category by Craig and Katarina Radisic, who each had 10. Delaney Dunham had a hand in 7 of the Cougars' 12 blocks on the day, while Jorgenson had a solo block and 5 block assists. Eight different Cougars had at least one assist on the evening, led by Aubrea Banfield's 21. Azusa Pacific served up seven aces, with Radisic having a team-high three.
