AZUSA, Calif. - No. 11 Azusa Pacific improved to 6-0 on Thursday by defeating Western New Mexico 4-0.Â

In their doubles match, the Cougars made quick work of the Mustangs as they took every doubles matchup by a score of 6-1. The pairing of Madison Kane and Courtney Page got the Cougars started off on the right foot by quickly finishing their No. 3 matchup on Thursday afternoon. Jacky Wagner and Carolyn Brooner followed right behind by winning their matchup 6-1 and clinching the doubles point for the Cougars. In the No. 3 slot Petra Ivankovic and Anna Savchanko secured the doubles sweep, allowing Azusa Pacific to have full control of the match heading into singles play.Â

Wagner was the first to finish her singles match and did so in straight sets at No. 3, those sets finished 6-1, 6-0. Kane followed right behind Wagner at No. 4 by winning her match 6-0, 6-1 to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead. The match was clinched for Azusa Pacific by Ivankovic in which she also won her contest in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. Following the match being clinched by a score of 4-0, the No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 singles matchups went unfinished.Â

The Cougars quickly return to the court tomorrow, March 19, as they take on Division I opponent Cal State Northridge at 2:00 PM. This will be an away match for Azusa Pacific and can be streamed live on the Cal State Northridge website using this link.Â
