Mackenzie Coleman (defender) and Maddy Morrison (forward) have been honored as All-West Region performers by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association. Both Coleman and Morrison were selected to the Second Team.
Â
"It is an honor to have all-region selections," said head coach Brooke Lincoln, "Both Maddy and Mackenzie showed up to training every day to become the best versions of themselves, and I am thankful to see their work being recognized by others in the region. Our whole team is proud of them!"
Â
Coleman was the Cougars' anchor on the back line, starting all 17 games and leading the team in minutes played with 1,405 minutes logged. She helped lead Azusa Pacific to seven shutouts, including back-to-back shutouts against conference opponents Hawai'i Hilo and Hawai'i Pacific, which earned her PacWest Defender of the Week distinction. Not only did she make life difficult for her opponents defensively, but she also helped start many attacks out of the back for the Cougars.
Â
Morrison finished with a total of 23 points this season, scoring nine goals and tallying five assists. In nine of Azusa Pacific's games this season, Morrison either found the back of the net or had an assist. On three occasions, she recorded a brace. In three of the Cougars' final four games, Morrison delivered at least one goal. Morrison finished off her two-year Azusa Pacific career with a total of 16 goals, including five-game winners, and seven assists.Â
Â
Azusa Pacific finished the 2021 season with an 11-5-1 overall record, including a 6-3-1 PacWest mark, which landed the Cougars fourth in the final conference standings.Â
