ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — The Azusa Pacific swim team finished 56 points clear of the seven-team field at the Orange County Invitational this past Saturday. The Cougars were led by
Delanie Gearing,
Tessie Scavone and
Amanda Anderson who each won events in the meet. Most of the Azusa Pacific swimmers swam off-events as a tune-up for next weekend's Winter Invitational down in Los Angeles.
How it Happened: Anderson started the day with a win in the 50 free for the Cougars with a time of 25.56 before following that up with a second-place finish in the 100 back. She was followed by
Emily Rigsby in the 100 back who finished in third place with a time of 55.72.Â
Scavone then followed with a 200 free win as the only swimmer to finish under two minutes and she was followed by freshman teammate
Hannah Swailes who put together an impressive meet also finished in sixth in the 100 back with a time of 1:04.50. Swailes also helped her team to a second place finish in the 200 free relay alongside teammates
Emily Rigsby, Scavone, and Anderson.Â
Gearing kept the success coming for the Cougars with a 200 breast win with a time of 2:27.46 which was over almost five seconds faster than the field. Then in the 200 IM,
Marci Yanagawa took first place in a tight race to the finish for Azusa Pacific's final individual win.
