IRVINE, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific women's soccer lost its first road game of the season in overtime Saturday afternoon to Concordia by a final score of 2-1. The Cougars went down 1-0 in the first half, before tying it in the second half. Emmy Koflanovich scored her first goal of the season and became the seventh different goal scorer for the Cougars through the first seven games. The Cougars conceded a goal two minutes into overtime to conclude the game.
"I was pleased with the way the girls responded in the second half," head coach Brooke Lincoln said, "(A)nd felt we had our way after a disappointing first half."
The Cougars were outshot in the game 11-5 as sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Kovisto made another four saves to add to her season total of 25 coming into the game. Randi Macadangdang collected two shots on goal but was unable to score.
Koflanovich, who was named to the preseason All-PacWest team, scored her first goal of the season. Koflanovich scored twice and had a team-high four assists last season.
Of the seven goal scorers, Macadangdang leads the team with three goals, while Maddy Morrison and Jordan Hill both have two goals apiece. Koflanovich has two assists on the season to go with her goal in the game today which is tied for a team-high with Amy Bishop and Maddy Morrison.
"We will regroup and be ready to open conference play on the road next week. Losses are opportunities for lessons," Lincoln said.
The Cougars will look to regroup for the first conference game of the season on Thursday, October 3 against Academy of Art. Kickoff is set for 10:30 a.m. up in the Bay Area in San Francisco.
