SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Azusa Pacific dropped its first PacWest game of the season, as Academy of Art defeated the Cougars by a 2-1 final on Thursday morning.
Azusa Pacific took an early lead in the contest, as junior
Jordan Hill scored her third goal of the season in the ninth minute of action. Hill took a shot from about three yards outside of the penalty box, and found the top right corner of the goal to put the Cougars up 1-0.
Academy of Art would equalize in the 24
th minute of the match, as Sydney Cooke found the top left corner of the goal to tie it at 1-1.
The Urban Knights would take the lead right after halftime, as Anissa Wilson scored just 40 seconds into the half when she received a cross into the center box and finished with a header into the back of the net.
In the game, Azusa Pacific posted a significant advantage in shots take, as the Cougars had 21 shots while Academy of Art took five. Of the 21 shots for the Cougars, only five were on target, while the Urban Knights' two goals were their only shots on target in the game. The Cougars also took 13 corners in the contest, while Academy of Art finished with four corners.

Brooke Lincoln, "Most recently in the last two matches. Talent isn't the issue but our mindset and drive is. I look forward to another opportunity to get it right Saturday."
Azusa Pacific, 4-3-1 overall and 0-1 in the PacWest, will look to bounce back on Saturday, October 5, as the Cougars close out the trip to the Bay Area with an 11:00 a.m. match against Holy Names.
