ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Azusa Pacific's historic season came to an end this morning, as the Cougars fell 4-0 to top-seeded Barry in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis National Championships, which was the deepest run in the NCAA Tournament since Azusa Pacific joined NCAA Division II in 2015.
Â
Barry claimed the doubles point as Verena Schmid and Zuza Maciejewska defeated the Cougars' duo of junior
Anna Savchenko and sophomore
April Wong, 6-1, followed by a 6-4 win for Barry's Carolin Schmidt and Julie Razafindranaly over sophomore
Petra Ivankovic and freshman
Audrey Stewart.
Â
In singles, Barry posted a 3-0 sweep. Jil Engelmann defeated senior
Kara Hinton 6-0, 6-1, followed by Eleonore Barrere winning in two sets over junior
