Azusa, Calif.-- The No. 25 Azusa Pacific women's tennis team is among a handful of teams looking to claim a PacWest Championship this week in Surprise, Ariz.
The annual conference championships begin on Wednesday with the opening round matches, and the Cougars head into the tournament on Thursday's match at the No. 3 seed with a 12-7 record on the season. APU's opponent for their quarterfinal match on Thursday morning will be determined on Wednesday as the Cougars will play the winner of Biola and Concordia.
The semifinals are set for Friday, April 19 with Saturday serving as the championship day. Every team is assured of three team matches as there is a consolation draw.
Oracle/ITA Rankings Updates
On April 10, the Oracle/ITA team rankings were updated and the APU women's tennis team are currently ranked at the No. 25 spot. The singles/doubles rankings were updated as well, with
Petra Ivankovic holding the No. 27 spot. The tandem of
Kara Hinton and
Jacky Wagner remain ranked in doubles play at the No. 41 position.
