IRVINE, Calif. -- The Azusa Pacific men's tennis team breezed to an 8-0 record with a 4-0 victory over Concordia Monday afternoon in its first match after a week off from competition.
Doubles: The Cougars swept the Eagles in doubles starting with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot from
Ryan Nuno and
Leyton Bohren. The tandem of
Jesse Haas and
Jakob Schnaitter clinched the double point and a 1-0 lead in the match with a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 position.
Ronald Kang and
Ethan Smith defeated their opponents, 7-6, at the No. 3 slot to send Azusa Pacific into singles with a sweep and a 1-0 lead.
Singles:Â No. 9-rankedÂ
Jakob Schnaitter registered the first point in singles, winning 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 1 position.
Jesse Haas downed his opponent at the No. 5 spot, 6-2, 6-2, before
Ronald Kang wrapped up and clinched the match at the No. 3 slot with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
What's Next: The Cougars will return home Tuesday, March 5 at the Munson & Bavougian Tennis Complex to take on Hawai'i Pacific at 12:00 p.m.
