Box Score Azusa, Calif.-- The APU men's tennis team served up its 10th straight win Thursday afternoon with a 4-0 sweep against PacWest rival Concordia at the Munson and Bavougian Tennis Courts. With clear sunny skies, the Cougars tacked up a 4-0 win with another rally through doubles before a string of straight set-singles wins capped by a clincher from
Jesse Haas. The win improves APU to 18-1 on the season.
The Cougars dominated in doubles play with the tandem of
Ryan Nuno and
Leyton Bohren whipping up the first win of the day 6-1 at the No. 2 position. On court three, teammates
Ethan Smith and
Ronald Kang issued a 6-2 defeat to etch the 1-0 lead for the Cougars on the board and bring up singles play.
Once again, after snagging a doubles win,
Ronald Kang tore his way through to the first singles victory. Kang's winning momentum carried him to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Daniel Reddmann. Soon after, No. 13
Jakob Schnaitter zipped his way to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Yassine Smiej at the top spot, taking APU ahead 3-0 with two Cougars closing in fast on the clincher.
Jesse Haas hit the finish line first, halting the match as an APU 4-0 win with his 6-4, 6-1 victory over Teis Visser on court four.
After hosting seven straight matches, the Cougars will travel Monday April, 1 to St. Augustine, Fla. to take on Flagler for a 3:00 p.m. matchup.
