Cross Country Closes Out Season

Azusa Pacific cross country finished off the season at the NCAA West Region Championships on Saturday morning in Monmouth, Oregon

MONMOUTH, Oregon -- Azusa Pacific wrapped up the 2019 season at the NCAA Division II West Region championships on Saturday morning, as the women placed 21st and the men finished 25th. The race was hosted by Western Oregon University, located in Monmouth Oregon.
 
Natali Contreras was the first finisher for Azusa Pacific on the women's side, as she placed 71st with a time of 22:15.2. Sammy Bockoven was next across the line for the Cougars, as she was 77th with a time of 22:22.2.
 
For the men, Nixon Korir placed 74th and posted a time of 31:51.5. The second Cougar across the line was Kurt Hake, who finished 113th and ran a time of 32:38.9.

Chico State won the regional championship on both the men's and women's side. 
 
While the season comes to a close for the Cougars, both men's and women's programa look to have strong 2020 campaigns. On the men's side, the Cougars return all but one athlete, while the women return six athletes, including Contreras.
