Quick Turnaround, No Probelm

Azusa Pacific defeated Dominican 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, extending its home match win streak to 16

Azusa, Calif.-- Less than 24 hours after the Azusa Pacific women's volleyball team came out victorious in a three set sweep over Notre Dame de Namur, the Cougars continued their victorious ways Saturday afternoon with a 25-10, 25-22-25-17 win over Dominican at the Felix Event Center, their 16th consecutive win at home.

With its ninth PacWest conference sweep this season, Azusa Pacific improved its overall record to 18-4, and 12-2 in conference play.

Freshman Annaka Jorgenson led the Cougars with 13 kills (.478 hitting percentage) and 10 digs while Senior Julianne Miller collected 12 kills (.455 hitting percentage), four blocks, and three digs. Aliyah Morrison added 6 kills towards the Cougar's twelveth PacWest conference victory.

How It Happened:
The Cougars jumped out to an 8-4 lead, in which two of those points were collected as kills from Morrison. Azusa Pacific held the same momentum as they extended its lead with an 8-1 run to settle the score at 19-7. The Penguins could never rally back as the Cougars pulled away to a 25-10 set victory.

Heading into the second frame, the Cougars claimed the first four points before the Penguins rallied back scoring the next three. Throughout the set, the Cougars could never extend its lead by more than four points until a couple team errors from Dominican helped secure Azusa Pacific's second set win, 25-22.

In the final set, both teams rallied back and forth early on and tied the score on seven different occasions before Azusa Pacific broke away with a 7-0 run to hold a 24-16 lead. The Penguins responded with its last point of the night with a kill by Rebecca Smith, but a Kaitlin Craig kill for the Cougars clinched the match with a 25-17 victory.
