Julianne Miller became the PacWest conference's all-time leader in career blocks, as she has 395 blocks over her four year career. The previous record was 394, that was held by Haley Doerfler of Hawai'i Pacific
How It Happened:
Through the first and second sets, Azusa Pacific seized and maintained the momentum. In the first set, the Cougars held a 5-3 lead when they went on a 19-2 run to push the advantage up to 24-6 before a service error by the Argonauts gave the Cougars its first set win.
Heading into the second frame, the Cougars took the first four points, with two of those points coming via kills by
Julianne Miller, before Notre Dame de Namur was able to put a point on the board. With the score at 13-9 Cougars, Azusa Pacific jumped out to a ten point lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 25-14 victory.
After taking the first two sets decisively, 25-6 and 25-14, Notre Dame de Namur challenged the Cougars in the third set and threatened to extend the match to a fourth set with a 28-27 lead for the set point. In the final moments, the Cougars rallied back with three straight kills from
Annaka Jorgenson,
Kaitlin Craig, and
Emily Gillingham to secure the 3-0 victory against the Argonauts for another conference victory.
Both
Julianne Miller and Jorgenson led the Cougars with a match-high 10 kills. Miller also added 5 digs and her record-breaking block while Jorgenson added a block respectively. Other standouts for the Cougars included
Sara Wagenveld, who recorded 8 kills with a match-high three blocks, and
Mina Andjelkovic who collected 20 assists, seven digs, and two kills.

Azusa Pacific will continue PacWest play on Friday, October 18 in San Diego, Calif. with a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Point Loma.
