AZUSA, Calif. -- In Azusa Pacific's first home non-conference game of the year they faced UC San Diego for the second time this season, they fell 1-0 in game one and 6-0 in game two. The teams played each other at the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas, much like their early season run in the Cougars fell short of a win.Â
GAME 1: UC San Diego 1, Azusa Pacific 0
The Tritons scored the games only run early in the first inning of a single down the left side. Sophomore catcher Jenna Gorman, caught Tritons stealing in the first two innings of the game for a season-high two-runners thrown out at second. Kat Ung threw the full game for the Cougars and recorded her fourth loss of the sophomore campaign.
GAME 2: UC San Diego 6, Azusa Pacific 0
In the final game of the day, the Cougars strung together a handful of hits from the heart of their lineup. Both Cayla Broussard and Megan Tucker went 2-for-3, teammate freshman Amanda Woods hit her first collegiate triple. Megan Mejia got her third start in the circle for the Cougars this season where she held the Tritons to and two scoreless innings.
What's Next: The Cougars continue conference play when they travel to Hawai`i next week. They will face Hawai`i Pacific March 5 and 1 and 3 p.m. (HAST).
