Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Stephen Hinkel

Scoreboard Stays Blank

AZUSA, Calif. – While each team had opportunities neither could find the back of the net as Azusa Pacific and Hawai'i Hilo played to a 0-0 contest on Tuesday evening.

With the results the Cougars move to 2-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in PacWest games. The Vulcans end a four-game trip through the mainland and head back to the Big Island with records of 3-3-1 and 0-2-1 respectively.

It is the second time since the 2014 season the teams played to a scoreless tie.

CLOSE CALLS – In the first half the Cougars controlled a majority of the play but couldn't string together an opportunity. While Hawai'i Hilo had three corner kicks in the frame, they amounted to little offensively.

During a five-minute stretch just before the second frame's midway point, the Vulcans hit the post then Zoey Bauman was forced to make a save on a Jaimie Salas shot from 10 yards out. In between those opportunities from the visitors, Emilie Allum hit a volley from 15 yards that went right on goal but was saved by Jenna Hufford.

Stephanie Lossau put a great boot on the ball late in the second half but Hufford tipped the attempt up and over the crossbar.

Each team had their chances in the extra sessions. Danika Steele forced Bauman to make a save in the 95th minute while Allum had an attempt with 45 ticks left that Hufford defended.
