LA JOLLA, Calif. – Three of the men's singles wins were won in the third set against nationally ranked No.13 University California San Diego as the Cougars posted an important 5-4 team against the Tritons.
The No. 1 singles match-up saw two nationally ranked players battling it out on the court. The Cougars Oliver Frank ranked No. 1 faced No. 36 Eric Tseng. Frank came back in his later sets beating Tseng, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. In the No. 2 position, Christian Schmid defeated Alexandre Miaule coming back 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Antonio Pejic was the only Cougar to win in two sets, beating Marius Ruh 7-6, 6-0. Roberto Luconi wrapped up the Cougars third three-set victory over Sreeganesh Manoharan 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in the No. 6 position.
Results
The tandem of Frank and Pejic recorded both singles victories and doubles victories on the day respectfully. The two were also the lone pairing to register a win for the Cougars beating Miaule and Marc Isia 8-3.
Azusa Pacific returns to the court tomorrow matching up against nationally ranked No. 22 Point Loma at 2:00 p.m. in San Diego, Calif.
