AZUSA, Calif. – The Cougars sent their fans home happy one last time.
In the final contest of the season inside the friendly confines of the Felix Event Center, Azusa Pacific topped Hawai'i Hilo 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-19) on Thursday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED: In the opening set the Cougars pieced together a .429 hitting percentage as team as they pulled away for a first-set victory. The script was similar as Azusa Pacific took a two-set lead in the contest. The home team hit .333 while the Vulcans notched a .156 mark.
Hawai'i Hilo provided some push back in the third frame as they held a 15-11 lead at the set's midway point. The Cougars responded with an 8-2 scoring spurt to take a 19-17 edge. It was a lead the home team wouldn't relinquish.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Cougars finished their home slate with a 9-1 record which is the best home record since a 13-1 mark in 2013.
REGIONAL UPDATE: The squad remains in solid position to qualify for the NCAA post season. In the latest West Region rankings, the Cougars are in the fifth position. The top eight make the postseason. The selection show is set for Monday, Nov. 20 and the regional will be played Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at a place to be determined.
20 WINS: For the first time since the 2013 season Azusa Pacific hit the 20-win mark. Four years ago the team won 26.
UP NEXT: The Cougars take to the road for their final three matches. The first contest is on Saturday against Dixie State at 12 p.m. (MDT).
