AZUSA, Calif. – After a five-year break in the rivalry, the squads will have to wait at least another year to get a victor.
In their first game against each other since 2012, Azusa Pacific and Biola each scored in the second minutes and that was all there was to it as they played to a 1-1 draw.
After the tie the Cougars record now stands at 3-3-2 overall and 3-0-2 in league games while Biola moves to 6-1-1 and 2-1-1 respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED: For the second straight game Randy Macadangdang scored in the early going. In the second minute the first-year took a shot from 15 yards on the right side and chipped it over Biola goalkeeper Christina Rodriguez to the far post.
On the ensuing kick-off Biola raced down and earned a foul in the box. Just 20 seconds after the Cougars scored Paula-Marie Labate evened the game with a penalty kick.
Both teams continued to press into their offensive third but both goalkeepers continued to keep the score knotted at 1-1.
