Downtown Victory

ST. GEORGE, Utah – For the second time this season, the Cougars enjoyed some deep range shooting against Dixie State.

Azusa Pacific hit 15 three pointers in a 69-48 wire-to-wire victory against Dixie State.

Just over a month ago the Cougars hit a school single game record 19 three-pointers against the Trailblazers.

"Our offense just executed well based on what their defense gave us," head coach T.J. Hardeman said. "We executed very well tonight and I'm really pleased with the energy and team play we showed tonight."

Leading the way in the win was Casey Wortley's career high 18 points. The junior tied for a team high honors with four made shots from behind the arc during her Cougars (9-10, 7-4 PacWest) best evening. She made seven field goals and also had four assists in 27 minutes.

Abigail Goodsell added a solid night with 15 points, six rebounds and seven assists. She committed just one turnovers as well. The double figure scorers were rounded out by Gabrielle Kaiser's 13 points.

Azusa Pacific hit just over 42 percent of their field goal attempts in each half and never trailed the entire game. Behind the arc they hit 44.1 percent of their 34 shots.

Earlier in the second quarter they grabbed a double figure lead and only once the rest of the game did Dixie State (2-16, 2-10) pull within single digits.

The Cougars return home on Saturday to start a four-game homestand.
