Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Stephen Hinkel

Young and Victorious

AZUSA, Calif. – The youth led the way.

In Thursdays 3-1 win against Notre Dame de Namur each of the Cougars net finders came from a freshman.

For the first time in four games, and for the fourth time this season, Azusa Pacific scored multiple goals as they raised their record to 5-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in PacWest games.

Post Game Interview with head coach Jason Surrell

It was a great goal scoring night for Emile Allum. The freshman scored the only goal of the first half when she took a Casey Thompson corner kick and deposited the ball in the net in the 21st minute. Then, less than five minutes into the second frame, she scored her second goal of the game off a nice feed from Brooke Gower.

Kennedy Christie capped off Thursday's youth movement in the 61st minute. She scored her second goal of the season when fellow freshman Kelsey Bushman feed her a nice ball from the far side to post.

In the 76th minute the Argonauts (4-4-2, 2-2-1) scored their PacWest leading 21st goal of the season when Susan Whitney hit a ball from the right side that clipped on the far side post and went past the goal line. However, that was one of just seven total shots for the visitors.

Azusa Pacific held a 10-7 edge in total shots while taking three corners kicks while allowing just one.

The Cougars look to make it four straight games without a loss when they host Academy of Art on Saturday afternoon.
