Post Game Interview with head coach Jason Surrell
The Cougars got on the scoreboard early on a well-executed set piece. Just before the five-minute mark, Casey Thompson knock a nicely placed corner kick into the box where Allyn Brown one-touched the ball with her right foot for her third goal of the season.
Despite a handful of chances from the home team, the stout Cougar defense kept the contest a one-goal the rest of the first half. Less than two minutes into the second frame Azusa Pacific doubled their advantage. Kelsey Bushman took a long shot from the right side the knock off the crossbar and stay in the field of play. Waiting for the ball in front of an open net was Victoria Kovatch who headed home the goal.
In the 60th minute Sydney Eddy nearly cut the Seasiders (5-8-2, 4-6-1) deficit in half but her one-on-one opportunity with goal keeper Sarah Klinkenberg hit the post and her rebound opportunity went wide left. Less than two minutes later the right foot boot of Lindsey Ryals gave the Cougars a three-goal edge. The senior's free kick from the left side curled perfectly over into the upper portion of the net.
Next up for Azusa Pacific is a Thursday afternoon date with Hawaii Pacific.
