Post Game Interview with head coach Jason Surrell
Lindsey Ryals nearly put the Cougars in front with a free kick less than 10 minutes into the contest but her boot from 30 yards clip off the cross bar before being cleared away. Azusa Pacific took that one-goal edge in the 26th minute. Stephanie Lossau took a pass from Cara Scammon and made one move just outside the top of the box before blasting the ball into the net.
The Cougars built on the one-goal edge less than 10 minutes into the second half. Lossau scored her second of the day, and third of the season, when she corralled a loose bouncing ball inside the box and one-touched a ball into the goal.
Azusa Pacific continued to put pressure on the Hawks backline but couldn't quite put together that goal scoring formula.
The Cougars pack their bags for Hawaii for a four-game road swing on the Islands. They begin the trip next Saturday, Oct. 22 against Hawaii Hilo.
