AZUSA, Calif. – Nice and efficient.

The Cougars had little trouble in dispatching of Westmont on Friday afternoon as they posted a 9-0 victory against their former conference and NAIA rivals.

Match Results

The 12th ranked Cougars won their fifth straight match by dropping just one set. Azusa Pacific is now 7-1 on the season.

The duo of Jan Meyer and Gary Yam were effective to dispatch of Joshua Barnard and Carl-Philip Lindquist 8-4 at the top doubles position. Alan Leahy and Shepard Newcomb won at the third spot 8-5 to win their fifth match in eight tries together. Ben Eger and Pascal Engel wrapped up the doubles action with an 8-6 victory over Jan Sibbel and Christian Mathis at the No. 2 spot. 

Meyer started singles play in fine fashion as he "double bagel-ed" Luke Whalen at the top singles spot. The second single contest to finish was Leahy's match at the No. 5 singles position. Leahy cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Travis Kimsey. The straight set parade continued at the No. 6 match with Tomas Aranguiz's 6-2, 6-2 decision. 

Eger won his fifth singles match of the season with a 6-3, 6-1 tally at the No. 2 slot. Engel had to go to a super tiebreaker in the final set before post a 6-3, 3-6, 10-2 win at the No. 3 singles position. Gary Yam completed the sweep as he posted a 6-4, 7-5 victory at the No. 4 slot.  

Azusa Pacific takes the weekend off before hosting San Diego Christian on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m.
