HAYWARD, Calif. – The Azusa Pacific swimmers and diver faced off against one of their best opponents on the schedule as they dueled with No. 25 Cal State East Bay on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers won the dual meet by a 179-109 tally.
Although the Cougars weren't able to come out on top in the team standing, they were able to put together a handful of notable individual efforts.

Rosalee Mira Santa Ana continued to impress in a Cougar swimsuit. The freshman took top honors in the day's second event as she posted a time of 17:31.52 in the 1650-yard freestyle event. Her time bested the second best competitor in the event by 43 seconds. Santa Ana followed that up with a victory in the 500-yard freestyle as she touched the wall in 5:06.52. Both times were NCAA "B" cut qualifying times.
Heidi Zuniga also took home a first place finish during the swimming portion of the meet as she outdistanced herself from the competition by winning the 200-yard butterfly in 2:13.34. The sophomore won the event by five seconds.
During the diving portion of the meet, Kianna Mourer and Hailey Viehmann were unchallenged in claiming first- and second-place points for the Cougars. Mourer won the one-meter event with a score of 246.30 while Viehmann tallied 210.60 points. The freshman duo went onto to score 264 and 234.75 point respectively during the three-meter completion.
The 50-yard freestyle proved to be a tense affair as the Pioneers Alyssa Littlefield edged out Quinn Robertson by just .23 seconds. Littlefield's time of 24.76 was just enough to claim first and Robertson touched the wall in 24.99.
Anna Eckberg put together two solid swims. During the 100-yard backstroke she tied for second with teammate Brooke Miller as each of them recorded a time of 1:05.59. Eckberg posted her second runner-up finished as she recorded a time of 2:18.96 in the 200-yard backstroke.
Azusa Pacific will continue their training as they prep for NCAA Division I foe Pepperdine on Saturday, Jan. 31 in Malibu.
