Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Despite posting a season high 17 total shots the Azusa Pacific women's soccer squad couldn't come away with a victory as they fell 2-1 in heartbreaking fashion to UC San Diego in two overtimes.
The game featured 35 total shots and 11 corner kicks before the home team claimed the win.
Even though the teams combined to produce 12 shots in the first 45 minutes, neither squad could convert on their opportunities.
Mayra Almazan finally broke through with a goal in the 74th minute. She corralled a pass from the left side off of
Lindsey Ryals foot to score from close range.
Haley Williamson was also given an assist on the play.
The Tritons responded not quite 10 minutes later as Sophia Hyver headed home a pass from Jordyn McNutt to knot things up at 1-1.Â
The Cougars were able to get off three shots in the first extra sessions, including an Alamzan shot on frame, but couldn't get the deciding goal.
Izzy Pzurama provided the game winner in the 102nd minute when her right footed shot from in close found the back of the net. Â
Almazan took a game high eight shots while
Amanda Hardy blasted four.Â
The Tritons held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.Â
