LA MIRADA, Calif. – In the first-ever meeting of longtime NAIA members, Azusa Pacific downed Biola University, 126-103 Saturday morning in a dual meet on the Biola campus.
The Cougars won 8 of 13 events, including the 1- and 3-meter diving portions of the competition. Sophomore Kaylen Hewko led the Azusa Pacific charge by taking a trio of events – 200 free (2:00.83), 500 free (5:21.58) and the 100 butterfly (1:01.50).
Sophomore Karla Hill used a season-best effort to win the 1650 free (18:31.18). It was 1 of 9 season-bests posted by the Cougars on the day.
Sophomore Kelly Burda took both the 1- and 3-meter dives, using a season-best 198.00.
Freshman Stacey Wong won the 100 back (1:04.77) with another season-best time.
With the victory, Azusa Pacific improves to 2-0 in dual-meet competition.
