AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific took 2 of 3 doubles’ matches and then cruised through singles’ play to take a 7-2 win over NCAA Division III No. 10-ranked Claremont-Mudd Saturday in Azusa.

Sam Fletcher teamed with Gordon Hong for a thrilling 9-8 win over J.M. Chamakoon and Kyle Ellison at No. 1 doubles, and Boris Bakalov and Thomas Jelsma cruised past William Ellison and Evan Feldhausen, 8-2, at No. 2.

Fletcher (1), Bakalov (2), David Goodman (3), Hong (5) and Jelsma (6) all picked up singles wins.

With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 2-0 on the season. Claremont-Mudd drops to 0-2.
