Los Angles, Calif. - Loyola Marymount won its 15th consecutive home match under head coach Nik DeVore, as the Lions began the 2003 season with a 5-2 victory over the NAIA's sixth ranked team, Azusa Pacific.

The Lions took five of the six individual matches, but dropped the doubles point 2-1.
LMU senior Leopold Graeubig battled back to beat Boris Bakalov 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. Fellow seniors Anthony Evrard and Johannes Asuja also earned victories. Evrard downed Adam Davidson 6-3, 6-4, while Asuja easily handled Cougar freshman Thomas Jelsma (6-2, 6-1).

Lion freshman Michael Wojnarowicz continued his impressive rookie campaign with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory over Cole Billings, while Carlos Malet-Faura breezed to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Justin Green.
Evrard and freshman Robert Kennedy won LMU's lone doubles match, downing Azusa Pacific's Billings and Green.
